Creating a Culture of Giving
or How MeNERDs Are Making Charitable Appearances in Their Communities
Work at Menard and want to sponsor a little league team? Buy marching band equipment? Organize a 5k run in your neighborhood? Menard will help a MeNERD out!
Each year, Menard Group USA gives every MeNERD a donation or sponsorship allowance of up to $300 to support the cause or group of their choice. In the spirit of going above & beyond, we often make additional donations to causes our team supports, too!
How have we been showing Menard (and every MeNERD) Cares this quarter around the country? Here are a few great examples:
Carnegie team members Lori Walters, Rick Hammers, Alex Hammers, Chad Dille, Marty Taube, Chris Parinella, Krista Keener and Diana Walsh (and their families!) walked in the Great Strides Walk for Cystic Fibrosis with Construct the Cure. Menard donated $900 and the MeNERDs themselves donated another $520, for a grand total of $1,420!
Remember our Regional Sales Engineer Kyle Shatzer and his epic cross-country ride? He ALSO completed the MS 150 with a $300 donation from Menard! The MS 150 is a charity bike ride for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and the 150-mile weekend ride runs from Duluth to the Twin Cities with an overnight rest stop in Hickley. Kyle was invited to ride with geotechnical engineering firm Braun Intertec, who raised a total of $37,000!
Sales Engineer Ashley Wachhaus and Design Engineer Sonia Swift participated in The March of Dimes 2018 March for Babies. The March of Dimes fights for the health of all moms and babies while working to radically improve the healthcare they receive. Ashley & her family walked in Cleveland, and Sonia & her family walked in Boston. Menard donated over $1,000 to support the event.
Our crew in Louisiana was involved in a charity fundraiser to benefit The Tulane Cancer Center, and Menard pitched in $1,200 to support the team.
We recently had a tragic fire across the street from our corporate headquarters in Carnegie, Pennsylvania. We helped the victims & their families, and then also made a $1,000 donation to the local fire company that battled the blaze.
Finally, USW Administrative Manager Keri Everett spearheaded a $500 donation to The Brunswick County North Carolina Fellowship of Christian Athletes, which encourages student-led & inspired events that follow their main values: Integrity, Serving, Teamwork, and Excellence.
We hope these MeNERDs have inspired YOU to give back to YOUR community!
