For the fourth time in five years, Menard Group USA will be working to provide support for the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT).
This time around we'll be on Weber Road, which boasts the highest traffic volume in Will County. More than 40,000 motorists daily travel along the roadway through a county whose population has doubled in the last 35 years!
With management on site by general contractors Judlau and RW Dunteman, the overall project includes widening the roadway and constructing a bridge, as well as creating free-flow on and off ramps, improving interchanges and providing safer travel for pedestrians and bikers.
For our part, we'll be installing over 2,000 controlled modulus column (CMC) rigid inclusions in three phases over a two-year period on the roadway approaching the I-55 bridge and ramp.
So why is this roadway project different from any other? A broad, flat wetland called the Lily Cache Slough.
Our work will pass right through it, and its soil contains organic material with a moisture content of over 200% in some places! We'll be relying on previous experience in the region for our CMC rigid inclusion, work platform and load transfer platform designs.
We'll be getting started at Weber Road later this year, and the final phase is scheduled for 2020. The entire project is expected to wrap up by 2024.
There are no upcoming events at this time. Please check back soon as something is always in the works!
